Cadcorp announces support for Microsoft SQL Server
2008 Spatial enhancements.
Digital mapping and geographic information systems
(GIS) software developer Cadcorp announced that
support for the spatial enhancements of Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 will be available in Cadcorp SIS Spatial Information System Version 7.0, due
for release early in 2008. "Spatially-enabled
databases are becoming increasingly widespread
and are no longer the preserve of large, enterprise,
geo-spatial data stores. This change has been
particularly marked in the UK with the now widespread
adoption of Ordnance Survey MasterMap and the
increased storage and management requirements
that this has brought, stated Martin Daly, technical
director, Cadcorp. Cadcorp
SIS will help provide
users of SQL Server 2008 spatial technologies
with enhanced functionality and significant value,
he added. We rely on our partner community to
provide solutions based on the spatial enhancements
in SQL Server 2008,said Kim Saunders, senior
director of SQL Server marketing at Microsoft
Corp. Combining SQL Server 2008 spatial technology
with the capabilities of the Cadcorp SIS client
allows Cadcorp to offer an alternative to spatial
databases that are already on the market.
The Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System
product family is fully integrated digital mapping
and GIS software that uses OGC certified compliant
interfaces. Cadcorp technical director Martin
Daly is an OGC Gardels Medal holder for his contribution
to the OGC, and was one of the original members
of the OGC Architecture Board. Cadcorp is an ISO9001:2000
and ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certified company, an Ordnance
Survey GB Licensed Partner and Ordnance Survey
Northern Ireland Licensed Partner. Cadcorp SIS
applications exist in local government, central
government, emergency services, insurance, oil
& natural gas, mapping and surveying, commerce,
utilities and many other markets.
